Motor Control and Automation
Most controls problems on commercial projects aren’t controls problems. They’re interface problems.
MEC coordinates motor control and automation in-house alongside switchboard manufacturing so the same team handles design, programming, and commissioning. Fewer handoffs, fewer integration issues, and a system that’s easier to commission and fault find after handover.

Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
VSD programming left to the mechanical contractor or commissioning tech is a common source of commissioning delays. MEC programs, and commissions VSDs as part of the project scope, including setting parameters and protection settings.
“
Over the past five years at PJM Engineering Services Pty Ltd I have worked with and alongside Andrew Walsh & his team at MEC Electrical Pty Ltd. I engaged MEC on multiple occasions to complete both mechanical electrical and controls wiring for various HVAC projects throughout Victoria.
The team’s attention to detail and proactive nature made the entire aspect of each project extremely streamlined. MEC have completed both Design and Construct as well as Construct only works under my supervision. From technical design documentation, efficient site installation & successful commissioning, the team are always responsive to requests & achieve given deadlines...

PLC and DDC Control Systems
For projects where BMS control solutions aren’t sufficient, MEC can design, program, and deliver PLC control systems coordinated with the associated switchboard and drive scope.
When the same team handles all three, fault finding after handover stays manageable. At handover, MEC provides control schematics, logic descriptions, VSD parameter records, and O&M notes for the installed system.

FAQs
Where is MEC motor control and automation used?
Industrial facilities, infrastructure projects, processing environments, and complex commercial installations, particularly where HVAC plant, mechanical services, and BMS integration are part of the same scope.
Can you integrate with our existing Building Management System (BMS)?
Yes. We can work with established platforms and BMS suppliers to navigate the integration of the new scope of works.
Do you handle VSD programming and commissioning as part of the package?
Yes. VSD programming and commissioning are part of our scope. Parameter setup, speed references, and protection settings are configured to the project specification before site commissioning.
What control documentation do we receive at project handover?
Control schematics, PLC/DDC logic descriptions, testing records, and O&M notes. Documentation requirements are confirmed during the scope phase.
What happens if a fault is found during site commissioning?
We manage it directly. Because the same team designed and built the system, fault finding doesn’t require chasing a third party for drawings or configuration records.
